Defensive Rookie of the Month Award goes to Christian Gonzalez
The New England Patriots traded down in the first round of the NFL draft this year but still managed to land a promising defensive player. Christian Gonzalez, their rookie cornerback, was named the league’s defensive rookie of the month after his standout performances against Tyreek Hill and Garrett Wilson. Gonzalez held the star wide receivers in check and even had an interception against the Dolphins. With a sack in the season-opener against the Eagles, he has shown early signs of making an impact. Gonzalez will face a new challenge against CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys this week.
