Expanding Number of Women in the N.F.L. Drives the Growth of this Group Text
The number of women in football personnel positions in the NFL is increasing, with nearly 70 women in scouting and personnel roles and 10 female assistant coaches in the league. These women have formed their own support systems to navigate a historically exclusionary culture. The NFL has established pipelines for women, including expanding the Rooney Rule to include women and hosting the Women’s Careers in Football Forum. Women in the industry have also developed their own networks to support one another, such as a group text started by Catherine Raîche and Ameena Soliman. They also organize video calls and mentoring programs for career development.
