Brian Daboll Throws His Quarterback Under the Bus in NFL Week 1
In Week 1 of the NFL, there were several notable losers. New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll received criticism for keeping QB Daniel Jones in the game late during a blowout loss to the Cowboys. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had a poor performance in a loss to the Browns shortly after becoming the highest-paid QB in the league. The Pittsburgh Steelers struggled on both offense and defense in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Rookie head coaches Jonathan Gannon, Shane Steichen, and DeMeco Ryans all experienced defeats in their first games. Three rookie quarterbacks also made their first career starts but failed to win. The Los Angeles Chargers defense struggled to stop the Miami Dolphins’ offense, and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles had a subpar game despite his team’s win. All of these teams and players have room for improvement in the upcoming weeks.
