49ers drop 3 players from roster, initiate construction of practice squad
The San Francisco 49ers lost three players through the NFL waiver claim process as teams cut down to their final 53-man rosters. Offensive linemen Keith Ismael and Ilm Manning were claimed by the Arizona Cardinals, and cornerback D’Shawn Jamison was claimed by the Carolina Panthers. Ismael and Manning showed promise in training camp but were unable to secure a higher position on the 49ers’ depth chart. The 49ers are now filling out their practice squad, which could include up to 16 players. They also have the option to bring back Alfredo Gutierrez through the International Player Pathway program.
