Patriots Release Both Backup QBs, According to Report
The New England Patriots have waived both backup quarterbacks, Bailey Zappe and Malik Cunningham, leaving Mac Jones as the only quarterback on the team’s roster. Zappe had helped the Patriots win two games last season while Jones was injured, but struggled during training camp and preseason. Cunningham, who practiced as both a quarterback and wide receiver, impressed in his preseason debut but did not make the final roster. The Patriots have reduced their roster from 90 to 53 players ahead of the season.
