With the recent selections of Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs in the first round of the NFL Draft, running backs are currently having a bit of a renaissance, but those wishing to declare that the position is officially back should look to Clyde Edwards-Helaire as a counterpoint. Selected with the final pick of the first round just months after the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV, Edwards-Helaire was viewed as a luxury pick but one who could be dropped into the NFL’s best offense and hit the ground running. Instead, injuries derailed all three of his NFL seasons, ultimately losing his job to seventh-round pick Isiah Pacheco and not making the active roster for Super Bowl LVII. With the writing on the wall, the Chiefs opted to not pick up his fifth-year option and in doing so made CEH a prime example of why even the most talented teams in the modern NFL should not invest too heavily in their backfields.
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. In the 21st century, 53 running backs have been selected in the first round. So with that in mind, how many of the 53 can you name in six minutes?
Good luck!
